Midipy in Sudnly: a story of transmission, humanity and natural materials

There are stories that bring you back to basics. To what really matters. When the Sudnly media took a closer look at our entrepreneurial adventure, it captured with finesse what drives us so deeply: the desire to pass on, to preserve know-how and to put people back at the heart of what we do.

It’s with great accuracy that the article retraces our life’s journey, from our family’s world tour to the takeover of Midipy, this beautiful Toulouse-based company founded in 1998 by my two uncles, Philippe Granet and Denis Paternotte. A brand which, long before its time, was already championing made in France, natural wool from the Pyrenees and local craftsmanship of the highest quality.

A world tour that changes everything

The journey of initiation we undertook as a family was not an escape, but a return: a return to ourselves, to others, to nature. Travelling to different countries across the Southern Hemisphere, forging links with local artisans, sharing simple meals around a fire or a loom, we rediscovered what it means to “live together” and “make with meaning”.

From Luang Prabang to the Andes, ancestral gestures have awakened a deep desire in us to extend this wisdom into our everyday lives. And what could be more obvious than to take over Midipy, a family brand shaped by a love of raw materials and craftsmanship?

From transmission to renewal

In January 2024, we took over the reins of Midipy, respecting the legacy left by our predecessors. Our commitments remain unchanged: undyed virgin wool, genuine leather handcrafted in French workshops, limited series designed to last.

But this new page is also being written in openness: to new stories, to other collaborations, to a strong desire to contribute to a more human, more responsible luxury.

Our adventure is both a continuation and a transformation. A way of combining the ancient and the contemporary, local roots and inspiration from elsewhere.
